Ipon-Invest Challenge Additional Investment Instruments

I was supposed to provide this update a year ago, but due to a busy schedule, I am only able to do it now. It is about the new version of the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge’ that I started in January 2019.

So, what is the new version all about?

Initially, I launched the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge’ using the COL Mutual Fund as the chosen investment instrument or vehicle.

“The COL Fund Source logo is not my own and is the property of COL Financial Group, Inc.”

The primary goal was to save 33 pesos a day and then invest it in a Mutual Fund until it reaches 1 Million Pesos. The secondary goal was to establish a consistent monthly habit of saving and investing. After more than 3 years, I believe that I have already achieved the secondary goal. However, the primary goal of reaching 1 Million Pesos is still a long journey ahead. So, I’ve been thinking of a new idea for the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge.’ That idea is to explore different investment vehicles or instruments.

While I have been attempting to diversify the investment aspect by choosing different Mutual Funds, I’ve come to realize that I am still within the realm of Mutual Funds. Therefore, I’ve decided to create a new version of the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge’ by exploring another investment vehicle.

The dilemma on how to invest

In August 2022, it struck me that, though Mutual Funds are diversified in nature, they operate in the Philippines. This got me thinking: why not explore international investments? So, I began to search for options where I could invest 1,000 pesos per month in international markets. That’s when I stumbled upon GCASH GInvest. It offers the choice to invest in a range of Global Funds.

However, I’m facing a dilemma. Should I continue with the current 33 pesos a day which is equivalent to 1,000 pesos per month and split it, with half going to the Mutual Fund and the other half to GInvest? The challenge with this approach is that it won’t answer one of my key questions: ‘When will I accumulate 1 Million Pesos using 1,000 pesos in Mutual Funds?’

Ipon-Invest Challenge version 1 and version 2

I’ve decided to start a completely new ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge’ specifically for GCASH GInvest. This will be a separate 33 pesos a day or 1,000 pesos per month, which is why I’m calling it ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge Version 2 GCASH GInvest.

“The GCash GInvest logo is not my own and is the property of GCash and its related entities.”

Ipon-Invest Challenge version 3

In September 2022, although I had been aware of this investment instrument for quite some time, it was only now that I found a reason to try it—a new investment vehicle for my Ipon-Invest Challenge financial experiment. The ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge Version 3: GInvest’ was born.

“The PAG-IBIG MP2 logo is not my own and is the property of Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund).”

In summary

I now have three versions of the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge.’ The first is the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge: COL Mutual Fund.’ The second is the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge: GCASH GInvest.’ And the third is the ‘Ipon-Invest Challenge: PAG-IBIG MP2.

Nais mo rin bang mag-ipon at mag-invest, let me know by leaving a comment below
